Adobe Updates Premiere Pro with AI-Powered Features

Faster and Better Video Editing Results

Adobe has released an update to Premiere Pro, version 25.2, which includes AI-powered features designed to help creatives work more efficiently and effectively. The new features, which were previously in beta, are now available for all users.

Generative Extend: Extending Video Footage with AI

The most notable new feature is Generative Extend, which uses Adobe’s Firefly generative AI video model to extend video clips by up to two seconds. This feature can be used to generate more options for transitions or to correct unexpected movements without having to reshoot footage. Generative Extend can now generate clips in 4K quality and can also extend ambient background audio up to ten seconds. However, this feature will not extend speech or music.

Generative Extend: Free for a Limited Time

Generative Extend is currently free to use, but Adobe has not specified how long this will last. After the limited-time period, users will need to purchase Firefly generative credits to continue using the feature. The number of credits required will depend on the format, frame rate, and resolution of the video.

New AI-Powered Search Panel

The updated version of Premiere Pro also includes a new AI-powered Search panel that automatically recognizes the content of clips within your video library. This allows users to search for footage using text descriptions that include objects, locations, camera angles, and effects, such as looking for "close-ups of hands working in a kitchen."

Other New Features

The latest version of Premiere Pro also includes Premiere Color Management, which automatically transforms log and raw files directly to SDR or HDR without lookup tables. This makes it easier to jump right into editing. Additionally, Premiere Pro can now automatically translate video captions into 27 different languages, and users can display multiple caption tracks simultaneously during editing.

Better Performance and Speed

The update also provides better speed and performance across both Apple silicon and Windows devices.

Conclusion

The latest version of Premiere Pro, version 25.2, is a significant update that includes AI-powered features designed to help creatives work more efficiently and effectively. The new features, including Generative Extend, Search panel, and Premiere Color Management, are designed to make video editing faster and better.
