LiDAR Interpretation Uncovers New Targets at Devils Mountain Gold Project

Share

Introduction to Great Divide Mining Ltd

Great Divide Mining Ltd (GDM) is an emerging gold producer and exploration company. Recently, the company completed a second LiDAR interpretation over EPM 26135 Kilkivan, which is part of the Devil’s Mountain Gold Project located in southeast Queensland.

Highlights of the LiDAR Interpretation

The key highlights of the LiDAR interpretation include:

  • GDM purchased the Gympie 2023 LiDAR dataset from the QLD Government, covering an area of 80 km2.
  • A comprehensive LiDAR interpretation was undertaken by specialists GeoCloud Analytics.
  • The interpretation revealed a total of 486 potential historical mine workings, including 40 adits, 16 shafts, and 430 other prospecting pits.
  • Many of the old workings were not previously known to GDM, indicating the potential for new discoveries.

CEO’s Commentary

Chief Executive Officer, Justin Haines, commented on the significance of the LiDAR results, stating that they provide a more accurate picture of the historical gold mining in the Kilkivan prospects area. He emphasized that the presence of shafts and adits is a good indicator of significant gold and base metal mineralization, as they were created through considerable effort and investment.

Devils Mountain Project Overview

The Devils Mountain Project consists of five Exploration Permits for Minerals (EPMs) located approximately 30 kilometers northwest of Gympie. The project lies in the Palaeozoic Gympie and Wandilla Provinces of the New England Orogen in southeast Queensland. This region is highly prospective for gold and hosts an abundance of mineral occurrences, including copper, silver, lead, zinc, tungsten, mercury, and manganese deposits.

LiDAR Survey Data Details

The LiDAR survey was conducted in 2023, covering an 80 km2 area in the western part of the Devils Mountain Project. The survey data has a resolution of 1 m, which was reprocessed by GeoCloud Analytics to yield a 50cm resolution bare earth Digital Terrain Model (DTM). The high-resolution data has enabled detailed interpretations, facilitating the identification of historical mine workings, prospecting pits, geological structures, access tracks, and other surface features.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the completion of the second LiDAR interpretation over EPM 26135 Kilkivan marks a significant milestone for Great Divide Mining Ltd. The findings from the LiDAR survey have substantially enhanced the company’s dataset, allowing for the identification and prioritization of gold-bearing targets for further exploration work. With its strategic approach to targeting areas of abundant historical workings and applying modern exploration technologies, GDM is well-positioned to unlock the potential of the Devils Mountain Gold Project.
